Communicating with people from different linguistic and/or cultural backgrounds from your own should be a positive experience, but differences in expectations can lead to bias and miscommunication. In this workshop, we’ll explore linguistic biases and reverse linguistic stereotypes to help participants learn how to counter them. We will also discuss features of English that often lead to misunderstandings and provide strategies for participants to create mutual understanding.
