Designing Breathing Rooms: Storytelling as Pedagogical Practice

Monday, April 6, 2026 at 4:00 PM until 5:30 PMPacific Daylight Time UTC -07:00

This workshop approaches storytelling not as a skill to be taught, but as a practice that unfolds when classrooms allow for breathing room. Participants will experiment with low-stakes activities such as games, journaling, prompts, and group norms. These activities support reflection, agency, and relational learning. The session encourages educators to rethink lesson planning as the creation of conditions rather than outcomes, offering adaptable frameworks that can be carried into diverse teaching contexts. The emphasis is on designing lesson plans that make room for meaning-making without extraction, leaving space for teachers and students to shape their own forms of engagement.
